TESTIMONIALS

Very pleased with my teeth. Thank you so much for your care.

Cushla has had ulcers to deal with so that accounts for some of the answers relating to eating. Her speech is still troublesome as the top and bottom teeth don't line up. This is not a fault incurred by operation as you did an exemplary job. The help with the funding was much appreciated.

My experience with was amazing and smooth.

It was easy and she made me feel comfortable. I have no tooth pain anymore.

Beatrice is absolutely amazing especially considering I have massive fear around even going to a dentist appointment, let alone fillings and pulling teeth.

I was extremely uncomfortable and really depressed about my teeth and the state of them! I have had a long history of avoidant behaviours around both attending the dentists and also brushing my teeth and not maintaining a routine around oral hygiene. I am on ACC permanently for a severe head injury sustained as a child and also have post traumatic epilepsy. First of all, I arrived at TSCD with a massive fear of all my teeth having to be removed. After an examination with Dr Ng, I was assured that it was possible to not have to remove all of my teeth. That came as a huge relief to me! Dr Ng came up with a couple of options for me after I was not comfortable with the first plan!

Many thanks to everyone involved, you saved me from lots of pain and suffering! My thanks need to go to TSCD, Dr Ng, NZDA and Aotearoa Charity Hospital. I'm extremely grateful to you all for your immense support, kindness and generosity! Also a massive special thanks to Dr Ng and her team and network for actually making my experience pleasant and comfortable. Without Dr Ng and her team I would not have got through the front door. I felt the whole experience has proven my dental phobia much less a problem.

I did not know that this whole surgery could have been as smooth and as comfortable as it was. Apart from some expected discomfort post-surgery, the whole surgery was painless for me. I can not recommend Dr Ng and her team enough! I'm so happy with the plans that were tailored for me and the outcome, I'm extremely happy with I can smile again! I'm nearly eating properly again I feel so much better than I did pre-surgery. I ended up losing some teeth, but not by any means as many as I was fearing! Dr Ng's special care was exactly what I needed to actually get in the chair and the care I received was absolutely top notch. I was very very very dubious about anyone working in my mouth and I was well assured I was in good hands and didn't have to do anything I wasn't happy with doing!

My teeth are feeling much better now and look a million times better than they did! I do expect to lose more teeth in the future but am doing everything I can to protect against further loss and gum issues. So many thanks to everyone involved who has helped me get to this point. I'm feeling much better about myself and have gained some confidence too! If anyone has any questions or wants to know anything further about my experience please feel free to contact me. Once again thanks to everyone involved I can't thank any of you enough. I also can not recommend Dr Ng enough for people who have any fear and or anxiety around oral issues! I managed to walk out with no bad memories of the procedure at all and much less pain than ever expected.

Very grateful and kind regards!

Thank you for your professional support and service yesterday, it was deeply appreciated. The inclusive service you provide is much needed in our community.

I personally recommend the service having had some repairs done this week. The Special Care Dentistry provides a fully inclusive and accessible dental service that will shortly be mobile as well. I found the service to be very welcoming and professional. The Dentist Beatrice Ng talked to me about my needs, including doing the dental work while I remained in my wheelchair. In the pasted, I have always needed to transfer to the dentists’ chair. I will pass on the information about your services along with my total endorsement to the various disability networks.

Mobile Dental Service - Thanks for handling Mum so well, it was such a relief to have everything go so well and I believe the best outcome was achieved for her.

Mum hasn't complained to me so far and hope it stay's that way. The (rest home) team has not raised any concerns, but I will let you know if anything changes over the next while. I am sure you have impressed everyone there, with how smoothly it all went.

Thank you for the wonderful way you handled J's fears and insecurities yesterday.

He came away feeling fine about the visit, much more positive than before we arrived, whereas before he hand been saying that he might decide to do nothing and just leave the tooth there rotting because he didn't want anyone touching it. I have been trying to get him to a dentist for years for that tooth and I am so happy that we found you.

- Alison

M was very impressed with your gentleness, understanding, expertise and knowledge, and new techniques that for the moment have avoided any serious intervention.

I'm sure the dental routines will be followed closely and hopefully will be well next time he sees you.

Thank you all so very much for your care, compassion and expertise.

I just wanted to say that the service that was provided to our daughter B yesterday was nothing short of amazing, from the minute we arrived until I took her home.

I'm planning to see mum next Thursday, but the rest of the family says she's doing really well.

Apparently she's a lot more interested in everything and is laughing again. So it's all really positive. Thank you for all your help in this whole difficult process, making it easier for mum and the family. The care you and your team provided on the day was exceptional.

Morning Beatrice, We hope this finds you well and the practice thriving. We had an IHC Association meeting yesterday and many staff and Area Managers were asking about your practice so we happily have them your details!!

Here is our account of N's visit to the clinic N is our 48 year old son living in an IHC facility just outside Cambridge. N has three types of epilepsy and averages one grande mal a fortnight with many drop seizures during the week. He has hurt himself on many occasions. He is mostly non verbal although many of us understand him.

He began showing signs of discomfort about 6 months ago when we noticed 3 things

  1. Showing discomfort having  his teeth cleaned and not wanting  to have them cleaned
  2. Leaving his favourite food ,sweet corn on the cob, untouched !
  3. Taking your hand up to his mouth and saying “thore  thore” (sore)

After trying various dental practices in Hamilton and Cambridge who either didn’t deal with special needs clients or could not guarantee they wouldn’t pull all the teeth out ( this decision wasn’t an option and this without seeing N) we finally found  Beatrice. There is a 2 year wait at Waikato hospital to see the only special care dentist they have.

On the pre visit N was not particularly co-operative but Beatrice was able to get a peek at his teeth discovering one that would need to be extracted and that the gums were not infected but very red and inflamed. It was decided to attempt another visit and administer.........through a lure( sorry Beatrice the name of the drug just won’t recall).

Beatrice was totally thorough in making sure she had a list of all N's medications from his Dr and was as prepared as possible. She consulted with us and  prepared us as parents and caregivers as to her plan. We felt totally involved.

The visit went extremely well. While N was being distracted the team were able to get a lure into a vein and within 10 minutes N was asleep, the work done, and he was out in 1 and 1/2 hours. Very pleased with himself and displaying his extracted tooth in a container to everyone. He spent the afternoon alternating between drowsing on the couch or being taken for a ride on his ‘side by side’(farm mule...his favourite activity).

Beatrice had put a lot of thought into the plan put together, in order to do N’s work and she even had an alternative up her sleeve!! I have to commend the amount of care, thoughtfulness and inclusiveness she has displayed; ringing us to make sure we were ok with the plan, offering ideas and answers to Q. We believe she has a very high understanding of epilepsy, the drugs involved and their effects and ways to proceed with dental care.

We were all (parents and 2 caregivers) very very impressed with the team who knew their roles and worked efficiently, quietly and professionally

It was a very impressive experience for us and N I believe and we are just extremely grateful. Many thanks team.
